This is a book that I have heard a lot about. Every time someone mentions it they say that its best to go into reading this without knowing anything.
I really don't want to say much because that is true. This book had a lot of hype and for a while, and by a while i mean most of the book, I thought the hype was undeserved. Sure the writing was fantastic and the characters were great but I felt it wasn't really living up to the hype it received. And then it did.
All you really need to know is that I loved it and that I definitely recommend that everyone reads it.
I've read 81 books this year, yeah that is a lot for me, so this was a little hard. I did manage to pick my ten and here they are in no particular order and yeah maybe I cheated a little.
So those are the top books I've read this year so far and I can't wait until the end of the year when I can compare my favorites and the differences between then and now.
"Never, ever cry. ... Eureka Boudreaux's mother drilled that rule into her daughter years ago. But now her mother is gone, and everywhere Eureka goes he is there: Ander, the tall, pale blond boy who seems to know things he shouldn't, who tells Eureka she is in grave danger, who comes closer to making her cry than anyone has before."
I thought that this book had an interesting opening that made me want to read it more. It was interesting to see the incident that made Eureka that character that she was and it was also great knowing part of her past already at such an early stage in the book. I thought the story was unique and it was something that I've never really read about before.
I liked most characters and I thought they were well written. I especially like Eurekas friends andd her family. Not so much Rhoda because there was something about her that made me hate her.Maybe it was how she treated Eureka,I would not advise treating someone who is in the same situation as Eureka as Rhoda did. I though Eureka and Ander's first interaction was a very strange one and not knowing who, or what, Ander really was made him mysterious. I was very interested in what was happening to brooks because the early descriptions of him didn't really match the interactions I read and so something about him always felt off.
Unfortunately half way through this book I felt like I was getting bored and I think that was because it felt to me like the story took a while to actually play out. That changed though at the end and that ending made me want to read the next book so that I can read about what happens next.
Overall this book was good and although it may take longer to read I do recommend it to everyone.
So I got my hands on the second and third volume. The story continues on, Alana and Marko and their little family are still on the run. In these two volumes we are introduced to new characters such as Gwendolyn, the infamous ex, and I loved her. I loved all characters and I really really like where this story is going. The artwork is still fantastic and I could just spend all day reading these graphic novels.
I would totally recommend them to everyone because all three volumes are just so fantastic and such easy reads. I think its perfect for summer if you don't wish to read a big novel and just want something that won't take long to read.
I don't think I'm going to get much reading done in June. I've already started off the month super lazy so I think my reading goal for this month is going to be about 5 books. Those books are:
and
Hopefully I will get through all 5 of these books. I may even get around to reading more depending on how my reading mood works out.
I've never really been interested in reading a graphic novel before but then a lot of people on booktube have been either hauling or reviewing this book and recommending it so I decided that hey why not just give it a go.
I loved everything about this, the plot, the characters, the art work. I really must say that even though it is really short I grew to love the characters and that may have been because I got to actually see the story play out in front of me with the amazing art work.
I am definitely looking forward to reading the next two volumes of this graphic novel series and I may even branch out from my usual YA reading habits and look for some other graphic novels to read. As I said I really loved this, and I would totally recommend it to everyone. It does have some adult content, a warning just in case you're not okay with that, but I'm okay with that.
The last book in The Mortal Instruments series is finally upon us and I loved it. I believe Cassandra Clare is very good at ending book series and leaving her readers satisfied.
I loved the introduction of the new characters, Emma Carstairs and the Blackthorn family and from the moments with them in the book I cannot wait for The Dark Artifices series.
I feel like everything that happened in this series was nicely wrapped up and although I feel like I do want more from these characters I am totally satisfied with what I got.
I honestly thought that this book was going to be more heartbreaking and that may be because we given little bits of information that sounded as if the book was going to destroy us. There were only three times where this book made me cry and those times were when Sebastian died, when Magnus was going to give up his life, and when Simon lost his memories. Also I think there may have been a slight eye watering when Simon's memories were restored because he remembered Clary and that was important to me.
I kinda felt that with Sebastian death we got to realize that the real Jonathan Morgenstern didn't even have a chance at life. I mostly felt bad for Jocelyn because you got to see that it must of been really hard for her and it pumped up my hate for Valentine.
One death I didn't feel bad about though would have to be Jordan's. I feel like the lack of reaction from Maia made me feel like it wasn't that important.
I would recommend this book, or well the whole series. Everything written by Cassandra Clare is fantastic.
I made a wrap up video for may. The quality of this video is kinda terrible and that is because I had to film it on my laptop because my camera wasn't working right.
I liked this series, it was a quick and easy read. I think the plot of each book was very good and the characters were all great.
One problem I had with this book though was that it basically gave a recap of the books before in each book. At least 10% of each sequel was just recaps and as I read the last three books one after the other it got a little repetitive and boring.
I did like the element of romance in it, but I think I read them rather quickly because the Eve and Luke story line was frustrating.
Overall I gave this series two and a half stars because I liked it but it could have been so much more.
